At the O’Brien Law Firm, we are committed to helping victims of sexual abuse achieve peace of mind, a sense of justice, and financial compensation. In April, National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we are showing our support for the Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri, a nonprofit organization that works to protect children, heal families, and prevent abuse. We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of their 2024 One With Courage Gala.
One With Courage Gala
This year’s gala is taking place on Saturday, April 27, at the Ameristar Casino Resort & Spa in St. Charles, MO. The doors and bar open at 6 pm, and the dinner and program start at 7 pm. Live and silent auctions, raffles, music, and a special speaker are included.
Funds raised through the gala support children and families healing from sexual abuse, a shared mission of the O’Brien Law Firm.
Service Areas
The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) in Huntsville, Alabama, opened in 1985 and serves as a model for over 1,000 Children’s Advocacy Centers now operating in the US.
Its Northeast Missouri location has service areas in 14 countries: Clark, Knox, Lewis, Lincoln, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, St. Charles, and Warren. The main office is located in Wentzville, MO, and they have offices in Hannibal, MO, and Memphis, MO.
Services the CAC Offers
Founded in 2000, the Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri allows children to share their experiences of abuse or neglect in a child-friendly and non-threatening environment. They offer:
- child and family advocacy services to reduce trauma and provide ongoing support.
- forensic interviews to obtain statements from children in a developmentally and culturally sensitive, unbiased, fact-finding manner.
- mental health therapy to help children develop healthy coping skills, gain self-confidence, understand and effectively express emotions, and identify and draw on their strengths so they are better equipped to handle life’s challenges.
- Sexual Abuse Forensic Exams (SAFE) for children who experienced skin-to-skin contact by an alleged perpetrator. These exams, conducted by a trained medical professional, are comprehensive and noninvasive head-to-toe exams that check for medical concerns or physical evidence and reassure children their bodies are normal and healthy.
How You Can Help
With support, they ensure every family that walks through their doors pays nothing. Investing in the Child Advocacy Center transforms the lives of children and families, providing hope and healing in their times of need.
To support the nonprofit’s mission, you can donate, become a sponsor, or volunteer your time and unique talents.
